The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs and I was strapped with a baby to my back. Ha! All was beginning to fall into place, however there was still a long way to go. In order to furnish the house, it was going to take a lot of effort both in time and money. I would also have to do my favourite shopping. My three sons and I looked for treasures hidden going to estate sales in order to help ensure that my spending was under control. It was a weekly tradition that we would go through estate and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of new and old pieces. Then I would spend my weekdays painting and sanding on our front lawn. My love for furniture repair began when I saw a style like this. When our house was furnished, I still couldn't quit! There was a spot on the market in town where I would sell my pieces. Eventually, my collection grew so large that the room I had was inadequate. At home, I would host open houses, where over 1000 people could come in to purchase anything they wanted from the first floor within a single weekend. Growing Days was created in this house. My business was not only thriving but I was growing our sweet family as well. I was balancing the demands between what it took starting a new venture while also being a mommy. Growing Days was the obvious choice. Nora, my 4th kid was born in the year 2013. My business's direction was great, but I had to take some time off. I made the decision to take a break and spend some time at home, spending time with my kids. This was precisely what I required. It wasn't until a couple of months when the phones began to ring. Many people called me seeking advice on home improvement and decorating. They had mainly attended my house during the open houses to purchase furniture. The time flew by before I managed a large-scale business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients in a manner that I felt confident in. When you first told me about your home remodeling business, I laughed. It's fun to reflect about it.
