Laura Linney's performance of weak, yet strong characters has earned her the title of one of today's greatest American actors. Born to a renowned playwright's father, and being raised by a single mother who made a living as a nurse, she began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father, eventually studying acting, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Within a mere two months after graduating the actress began her Broadway career. The following year she made her debut on film and television. She has appeared in innumerable films, and television and stage productions since then. She has been nominated for three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her career. In spite of all these accolades, her love for theater is still there, and she continues to perform both as a stage performer and screen.
